Chemec awarded the “Carbon Footprint Calculated 2025” badge through the Finland Chamber of Commerce Climate Program

Chemec has been awarded the “Carbon Footprint Calculated 2025 (Scope 1 & 2)” badge as part of the Climate Program organised by the Finland Chamber of Commerce.

The recognition marks an important milestone in Chemec’s sustainability journey and reflects the company’s commitment to understanding and managing the environmental impact of its operations.

Supporting climate work in Finnish SMEs

The Climate Program is a one-year initiative designed to help Finnish small and medium-sized enterprises develop and strengthen their climate work. The programme provides practical training, expert support and concrete tools for calculating carbon footprints and identifying opportunities for reducing emissions.

The programme is divided into two phases. During the spring, participating companies focus on calculating their carbon footprint and building a clearer understanding of their current emissions. During the autumn, the emphasis shifts towards identifying practical actions and planning measures that support future emission reductions.

At the beginning of 2026, Chemec announced its participation in the programme as part of its ongoing commitment to responsible business development and sustainability. The programme has provided a valuable framework for strengthening climate-related work through a structured and data-driven approach.

Calculating Chemec’s carbon footprint

As part of the Climate Program, Chemec completed its carbon footprint calculation for 2025 using data from both Chemec in Finland and CH Gruppen in Sweden.

The calculation covered Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions.

🌍 Scope 1 emissions include direct emissions generated from sources owned or controlled by the company.

Scope 2 emissions cover indirect emissions from purchased energy, such as electricity, heating and cooling.

Understanding these emissions provides a valuable foundation for assessing the environmental impact of operations and supporting future sustainability development.

Receiving the “Carbon Footprint Calculated 2025 (Scope 1 & 2)” badge recognises the completion of the carbon footprint calculation as part of the Climate Program and marks an important step in Chemec’s ongoing sustainability work.

From measurement to action

Understanding environmental impact begins with measurement.

Carbon footprint calculations provide organisations with valuable information about where emissions originate and where opportunities for improvement may exist. They support more informed decision-making and help companies prepare for increasing sustainability expectations from customers, partners and stakeholders.

As sustainability reporting and transparency requirements continue to evolve, reliable emissions data is becoming increasingly important across industries. Measuring emissions creates a stronger foundation for future development and helps organisations identify priorities for climate-related actions.

At Chemec, sustainability is viewed as a continuous process rather than a single project or milestone. Measuring emissions helps create a clearer picture of current operations and supports long-term development aimed at improving environmental performance.

Continuing the journey through autumn

While the carbon footprint calculation is an important achievement, it also represents the beginning of the next phase of climate work.

The Climate Program continues throughout the autumn, when the focus shifts towards practical actions and emission reduction planning. During this phase, Chemec will continue working with the programme’s tools and expertise to identify opportunities for reducing emissions and strengthening climate-related initiatives.

By combining measurement, transparency and continuous improvement, Chemec aims to support responsible business development while contributing to broader sustainability goals.

Building a more sustainable future

Sustainability is becoming an increasingly important part of modern business. Customers, partners and stakeholders expect companies to understand their environmental impact and take meaningful action to improve it.

Participating in the Climate Program and completing the carbon footprint calculation are important steps in Chemec’s ongoing sustainability journey. The work supports Chemec’s broader commitment to responsible business practices, transparency and long-term value creation.

Through continuous development and informed decision-making, Chemec remains focused on building a stronger and more sustainable future for customers, employees and society.

The work continues and this milestone provides a solid foundation for the next steps ahead!
