Our solutions for pulp production

Chemec offers high quality products for production of mechanical and chemical pulp. Our experts can help you improve the efficiency of your processes and products.

Products

Magnesium hydroxide is an environmentally friendly product for pulp bleaching. Chemec offers a highly stable magnesium hydroxide suspension with high solids content, suitable for various steps in the pulping process. Chemec magnesium hydroxide enables customers to achieve higher brightness levels at reduced costs as well as improves the environmental impact by reducing COD discharges into the effluents.

Together with Esseco, Chemec offers high quality hydrosulphite-based bleaching agents for the paper industry. Sodium hydrosulphite is used in the bleaching of high-yield mechanical pulps and deinking pulps in the production of printing paper and tissue. Esseco’s state-of-the-art production unit is the cleanest in the world with zero effluent discharge.

In wood pulping, impurities in process streams tend to cause scale formation on equipment surfaces and in the process equipment. Scale formation in the processes will adversely affect the process, resulting in increased costs. Inorganic scales in the process often lead to numerous problems, including lost production, increased maintenance costs, reduced product quality, and unscheduled downtime for cleaning operations.

Chemec offers a large portfolio of scale inhibitors and antiscalants for scale control against calcium, barium, magnesium, manganese, silicate and sulphate scales. The products act in different modes including dispersion, inhibition, crystal modification and sequestration, thus minimising scale formation.

Chemec offers specialty pitch control agents for pulping and bleaching processes. Efficient pitch and stickies control can reduce product defects and the deposition of organic materials on surfaces and process equipment. The pitch control agents adsorb onto the colloidal pitch, modifying the surface of the particles, dispersing them, and rendering them hydrophilic, thereby avoiding the formation of deposits. Benefits obtained with an effective pitch control agent include improved pulp quality, increased productivity, and reduced cleaning program costs.

Chemec offers a complete program of cleaning and boil-out products for removing both organic and inorganic deposits

Chemec offers Dispelair deaerators from Blackburn Chemicals. Dispelair defoamers are highly effective processing aids that remove entrained air and control surface foam in the pulping processes. Our portfolio of foam control agents and antifoam agents includes oil-based defoamers, silicone-based defoamers and water-based defoamers.

Products for paper and board production

Chemec offers high quality products for production of paper and board. Our experts can help you improve the efficiency of your processes and products.

Products

Chemec, together with its partner Indulor, is the leading supplier of optical brighteners for the paper industry. Through partnership, Chemec and Indulor can offer customers optimized solutions for controlling the shade of paper and board produced using Indulor’s high-quality Blankophor products. Blankophor products can be used effectively in wet end, surface sizing and coating applications.

Chemec offers a broad portfolio of high-quality colorants for the paper and board industry. Our portfolio consists of products such as basic dyes, direct dyes and pigments. In the state-of-the-art application laboratory, Chemec helps customers develop optimized solutions for controlling the shade of paper and board produced.

Chemec offers Dispelair deaerators from Blackburn Chemicals. Dispelair defoamers effectively remove entrained air and control surface foam at the wet end of paper and paper board systems as well as in surface sizing and coating applications. Effective deaeration can lead to process benefits which include increases in production, drainage and improved web strength.

Dispelair products assist in the clean running of the paper machine and do not contribute to pitch accumulation. The appropriate product choice is largely determined by the temperature, chemical nature of the furnish and regulatory requirements. Within our product range we have deaerators and defoamers that fully meet the requirements of BfR, FDA and GB 9685.

Chemec offers customers a world class application know-how in the use of bentonites in the paper production. Chemec offers more than 15 different bentonite grades for the paper industry, varying from brown to high brightness bentonites. Chemec also offers specialty grade bentonites for other industries. Through our local warehouses, Chemec is able to cost-efficiently offer just-in-time deliveries to customers at different locations.

Uncontrolled bacteria growth in the papermaking process can have drastic negative effects on production efficiency, profitability, and end product quality and safety. Surface attached biofilms or slimes impact machine runnability and can cause end-product defects, such as dirt spots and holes, and web breaks. Machine shutdowns for cleaning means tons of lost production and decreased profitability.

Chemec has a broad knowledge and expertise in microbial control for papermaking. We can provide innovative biocide solutions for pulp and paper processes. Chemec offers effective solutions for preservation of broke and raw materials as well as novel ways for biofilm and slime control in long and short circulations of paper and board machines.
